Today we meet with our market manager, Bryan Davidson.

This is my third season being the market manager. I volunteered at the market in 2019 and then stepped into the manager role when the previous manager had to step down. During the rest of the year, I am a high school English teacher for PA Cyber School. Being off in the summer, I wanted to get more involved in the community, so I started volunteering at the Farmers Market in 2019. I had attended it previously and always enjoyed it. Once the previous manager stepped down, I applied to be the new manager.

I am excited about the new vendors we have this year. There are sure to be some fun new products! I personally enjoy getting fresh veggies every week and grilling them. I also like the various olive oils and balsamic vinegars to add pizzazz to any recipe! Naturally, the dessert options compliment every meal!

I live in Avalon, PA with my husband and our dog, Indy. I grew up in the South Hills, but I lived in Brighton Heights from 2012 to 2015 and then bought a house in Avalon in 2015.

One thing I’d like to let everyone know is that the FAM program is one of the best things our market provides. The one-to-one match for folks who are on food assistance programs really helps ensure our market is accessible to every one of our neighbors. I didn’t realize how many of our neighbors suffer from food insecurity until we started the Feeding Neighbors Program in 2020 and saw how prevalent it was in the area. Helping fight food insecurity has become a passion of mine and the rest of the Farmers Market Committee.
