Dari-Villa Restaurant

[tab title=”Overview”]

Dari Villa is an old-fashioned diner with retro booths and stools that “resemble upright dumbbells and  line a counter over which cooks labor lovingly over a steaming, sizzling griddle.”   (Bad-Ass Breakfasts And Brunches!, Burger Bestiarym   11/13/11.) Retro pictures line the walls, and the owner proudly displays the only historic photo of Bellevue’s Lincoln Avenue when it was Depreciation Lands.

Established by Dom Schepsis, Sr. in 1977, this little gem of a restaurant was purchased by his son, Dom Jr. in 1982 when Dom Sr. wanted to retire. Dom Sr. would joke about selling a restaurant to a family member “as you never get out of the business.” Dom Sr. worked in the restaurant five days a week from the time he sold the restaurant in 1982 until 2016. Dom Jr. has worked in the restaurant since he was a teenager and remembers serving customers as children who now frequent the restaurant as adults with their own children. He has a loyal staff of servers and cooks who have been with him for over 18 years. Dom tells me he has “been blessed with such loyal help.”

Dari Villa is also a two time Trib Review Reader’s Choice Award winner for the Best Hamburger. In addition to ‘burgers, the menu is extensive and varied, offering breakfast through dinner items. My personal favorite from the dessert offerings are the old-fashioned milk shakes made before your eyes in the soda fountain type of mixer. Thick, rich, delicious!

I could write more, but when I found online reviews, I decided they were more entertaining to read.  From Bad-Ass Breakfasts and Brunches:” (www.yelp.com/biz/dari-villa-restaurant-bellevue-2?ylist=bad-ass-breakfasts-and-brunches-pittsburgh.) and City Paper: ( http://www.pghcitypaper.com/pittsburgh/stop-by-the-dari-villa-in-bellevue-for-fresh-potato-pancakes/Content?oid=1916674)

Stop by and say hello to Dom and his staff and enjoy his dining options!
