Bellevue International Market

[tab title=”Overview”]
Sanata Brown, from Burkina Fasso, West Africa, has lived in Bellevue for approximately
four years. She is the proud owner of two businesses, both with an international flair. Her dream
was to bring something new and unique to Bellevue, so she opened Wendkouni (meaning “God
Giving”) Hair Salon in 2013 and the International Market in 2015. The International Market
specializes in spices and foods of Africa and Asia.

Prior to opening her Market, when she personally needed these products, Sanata traveled
to the East End of Pittsburgh to buy them. Sanata knew she could make these products available
locally, so she seized the opportunity to open the Market. Some of the items stocked are used as
herbal medicinal products in her home country.

Future plans are to increase her product line to appeal to the large Nepalese and
Bhutanese population in Bellevue.

The styling salon specializes in various African techniques of hair braiding and
extensions for women; the salon also offers the latest trends in men’s cutting and styling.

Stop in and say hello to Sanata!
