Puff Pastry is an amazing and versatile dough. Once you learn the basics, the possibilities are endless! The class will cover the purchasing and proper handling and baking of Puff Pastry dough. Students will create the following sweet and savory variations:

  • Herbed Ham and Cheese Turnovers
  • Parmesan Cheese Straws
  • Cinnamon Palmiers
  • Simple French Apple Tarte

Students are asked to bring an apron and vegetable peeler.

A long time Bellevue resident, Andrea Schrenk is a Certified Executive Pastry Chef and Certified Culinary Educator (American Culinary Federation) A graduate of Johnson and Wales University with a degree in Culinary Arts Andrea’s career path moved toward Pastry which has become her area of expertise. Working in Fine Dining, Large Retail Baking and private Pastry based consulting and Education Andrea is presently a Pastry Chef Instructor at Pittsburgh Technical College. Six Gold Medals and 6 Best of Shows in professional competitions-Pittsburgh Magazines Special Chef Achievement Award and Pittsburgh American Culinary Federation Chef of the Year are a few of Andrea’s professional recognitions. Additionally Andrea has donated hundreds of hours and her talents to assist with charitable events throughout her career.

Andrea and her husband Jim have raised 3 sons Alek, Max and Ian in their English Tudor home in Bellevue.
