The Center of Bellevue (Enter by Hawley Ave)

This class will introduce the participant to the art of tying flies and some basic techniques. Learn about the vise, tools, thread, hooks, and basic knots. By the end of the class each participant will have tied one or two simple flies to take home.

The class will be led by Bob Heil, Jr. Bob started to fish when he was in college and became obsessed when he saw what he could catch with flies that he tied. He has caught locally the following fish on fly rods: trout, steelhead, panfish, bass, carp, creek chubs, fresh water drum, Moon eyes, suckers, catfish, walleye, pike & musky. He, along with Vic Ball, founded Allegheny Fly Tyers about seven years ago with the goal of educating others in the art of fly tying. Bob says that fly fishing has taken him to beautiful places and introduced him to interesting people. “For the period of time that you are fly fishing or tying flies you clear your mind, forget your problems and recharge yourself.”

Adults and teens are welcome!
